A server power supply is an essential component that provides electrical power to a system. It converts the alternating current (AC) from the electrical outlet into direct current (DC). The primary purpose of a server power supply is to provide the necessary electrical power to keep servers and networking equipment running smoothly. Moreover, it ensures the server receives the correct voltage and current levels for proper functioning. The power supply unit takes AC power from a wall outlet and converts it to DC power using a combination of transformers, rectifiers, capacitors, and voltage regulators.

Power Supply are of two types: Modular power supplies feature detachable cables, allowing users to connect only the necessary cables to their components. This design reduces cable clutter inside the computer case and improves airflow and aesthetics. Conversely, non-modular power supplies have fixed cables and are more convenient for miniature computer cases with limited space.
